41 Films Selected for Nepal Indigenous Film Festival 2025 in Scotland

Festival Director Mr. Arun Kumar Pradhan confirmed that all preparations in Scotland are complete.

The Nepal Scotland Association has officially announced the list of 41 films selected for the Nepal Indigenous Film Festival 2025, set to take place on July 19, 2025, in Edinburgh, Scotland. This is the first time the festival is being hosted in the UK, with a focus on showcasing indigenous voices and cultural narratives from Nepal.

The lineup includes:

  • 15 short films
  • 5 documentaries
  • 13 indigenous films
  • 8 mainstream films inspired by indigenous stories

These selections were made from a pool of 60 submissions.

Short Films Selected:

  • Bengtha – Indra Bahadur Pariyar
  • Devination – Gopal Acharya
  • Adekha – Aayub K.C.
  • Jungle Ma – Bibek Ramdam
  • Khil – Bikas Magar
  • Color of Tea – Raj Kumar Lamichhane
  • The Black Pig – Nabin Menyangbo
  • Laulsa Parheke – Binod Pudasaini
  • The Blue Sky – Nirmal Poudel
  • Pheke (Mother Tongue) – Toma Lama
  • Riva – Prashis Bajracharya
  • Sante – Deepak Tamang Lama
  • Mata – Uma Karki (Producer)
  • Turquoise – Nibh Bajracharya

Screenings on July 19 will include Anjila, Lakhe Aaju, Karsang, Mukhya, along with several short films. The event promises a cultural extravaganza with indigenous cuisine, traditional dress exhibitions, live cultural performances, interactive sessions, and an award ceremony.

Festival Director Mr. Arun Kumar Pradhan confirmed that all preparations in Scotland are complete. His Excellency Mr. Chandra Kumar Ghimire, Nepal’s Ambassador to the UK, will attend as the chief guest, as informed by Mr. Bijay Dangol, President of the Nepal Scotland Association.

Mr. Subash Thapa, coordinator of the event management committee, said all arrangements, including reception and honors for guest artists, have been finalized.

The event is organized by the Nepal Scotland Association, with support from the Film Directors’ Guild of Nepal and the Federation of Nepali Filmmakers, Province 1 (Koshi Province). Mr. Janakdeep Parajuli, President of the Film Directors’ Guild of Nepal, confirmed that all preparations in Nepal have also been completed.
